Devolution needs to be pushed beyond the town hall to restore trust in government, and the community can play a much greater role, says Nick Plumb

Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner has not wasted any time. She has already indicated Labour will deliver on its manifesto promise and ‘transfer power out of Whitehall and into our communities, with upcoming devolution legislation to take back control'.

This was expected in the King's Speech this week, where the Government set out its legislative plans for this parliamentary session, due after The MJ went to press.
