Councils have urged the Government to fully fund new burdens placed on them by death certification reforms.

Responding to a Ministry of Justice (MoJ) consultation, the Local Government Association (LGA) said it had ‘serious concerns' about the accuracy of the Government's cost assumptions for the reforms and feared service costs were ‘significantly higher than has been estimated'.
