The future of levelling up

A panel of speakers including shadow levelling up minister Alex Norris gathered at Ruskin College to examine the progress of levelling up so far, the challenges it faces and what lies ahead for the policy. Ann McGauran reports.

The introductory speaker at a Ruskin College seminar echoed a remark about the Romans in Life of Brian when he asked: ‘What has levelling up done for us? The answer to that is simple. Very little.'

Professor Peter John, the principal of the Oxford-based college and vice chancellor and president of the University of West London, set the context for a lively discussion on the future of levelling up.
