Future-proofing

Sutton has turned to its residents in order to work out the best ways to improve and streamline services. Jessica Crowe explains.

The reduction in funding faced by local government is unprecedented. After a long period of increased spending on public services, councils are facing years of reducing budgets while both demand and expectations of those services is increasing.

Sutton, like councils across the country, is seeking to continue to provide first-class services while, in our case, having to save almost half of our current annual budget between 2010 and 2019 – some £74m.
