Middlesbrough's refuse collectors and street cleaners have polished up their act with the help of the Learning and Skills Council North East's Train to Gain scheme.

Around 60 of the 150-strong team have just completed Level 1 and 2 NVQs in waste management, cleansing and HGV driving.
