Coalition ministers have allocated £100m in new funding to ‘encourage best practice' among local authorities designing individual council tax benefit (CTB) schemes.

Baroness Hanham confirmed on 16 October councils could apply for the voluntary grant from February 2013 - with funding to be paid-out before April, when localised CTB schemes take effect.
