£11.5m to promote 'right to challenge'

An £11.5m support scheme designed to help voluntary organisations take advantage of the 'community right to challenge', was launched on 27 June, as the new rights came into effect.

An £11.5m support scheme designed to help voluntary organisations take advantage of the ‘community right to challenge', was launched on 27 June, as the new rights came into effect.

The powers, created under the Localism Act 2011, allow voluntary and community groups, parish councils and local authority staff to bid to take over local council services they believe could be improved.
