£1.3bn cash injection needed for care crisis

Local Government Association (LGA) chief executive Mark Lloyd has told senior officers that social care is in ‘crisis' as Smith Square called for more money.

Speaking at the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives Summit last week, Mr Lloyd said social care needed an immediate cash injection of at least £1.3bn, amid predictions the sector was facing a total funding gap of £5.842bn by 2020.
