Business leaders and town hall chiefs have been talking up the economic benefits of devolving powers away from Whitehall.

New research published by the Local Government Association (LGA) has suggested £80bn in economic growth could be unlocked by devolving a variety of powers, including education, transport and digital connectivity to a local level.
