£2.3m fine for Grant Thornton over Asset Co

Grant Thornton, one of local government’s biggest audit firms, has been fined £2.3m for misconduct over its handling of a firm which supplied fire engines to London and Lincolnshire.

Grant Thornton, one of local government's biggest audit firms, has been fined £2.3m for misconduct over its handling of a firm which supplied fire engines to London and Lincolnshire.

The fine has been issued by the Financial Reporting Council and follows the near-collapse of the firm Asset Co, a spin-off from British Gas, which over-stated its past profits and assets.
