£53m waste deal for SITA revealed

SITA has been awarded a seven-year contract, worth up to £53m, to manage household waste for Northamptonshire CC.

SITA has been awarded a seven-year contract, worth up to £53m, to manage household waste for Northamptonshire CC.

During the first two years of the contract, waste will continue to be sent to SITA's landfill site in Wellingborough, but from 2015 onwards it will go to a new recovered fuel facility in Rugby, which will be commissioned in 2014.

‘This is a landmark project for the county council as it shows that we're taking positive steps to reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste, which is landfilled by using innovative solutions,' said portfolio holder for transport, Cllr Michael Clarke
