£6.8m aid to round up missing voters

Ministers have given local authorities the lion’s share of a further £10m funding to boost the number of people registering to vote ahead of the 7 May General Election.

Ministers have given local authorities the lion's share of a further £10m funding to boost the number of people registering to vote ahead of the 7 May General Election.

The Cabinet Office has allocated councils £6.8m of the £9.8m total funding package so they can ramp up canvassing programmes and other initiatives aimed at encouraging residents to register to vote.
