Gender gap is going to take 48 years to close

It will take 48 years for the gender split among elected members in the UK to be equally balanced, according to a survey from the Municipal Year Book.

The latest annual analysis finds 28% of councillors are female, an increase of just 1% over the previous year. The rise has been consistent over the past three years and, if it continues at this rate, a 50-50 gender split will take 48 years to reach.
