Gershon upbeat over targets

Sir Peter Gershon said he ‘would put his money where his mouth was' on efficiency savings in local government.

Speaking at the Improvement and Development Agency's Efficiency matters conference last week, he said £9.8bn of savings had been achieved by March this year, and that if he were a betting man he would be quite willing to place a lot of money that the £21bn target for 07/08 would be achieved.
