Getting Britain building homes

We need to devise a system which ensures housing is built and we can provide the right mix of homes to meet the unique needs of local communities, says Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen.

Homelessness is always at the forefront of our thoughts as winter begins, but this year it looms larger than ever. Many people are struggling due to rising living costs and rent increases. 

No-fault evictions force many people from their homes, private landlords are leaving the market and, in some places, short-term letting leaves fewer homes for those in greatest need.
