Local government secretary Michael Gove scored something of an own goal in a recent House of Commons exchange with his opposite number Lisa Nandy.

Cheekily drawing similarities between her and footballer Marcus Rashford, Mr Gove said: ‘I welcome the questions from the Marcus Rashford of the Labour Party – the person coming on at the last minute may actually change the fortunes of the team for the better, who knows?'
