Government borrowing last month at £24.3bn was £19.4bn lower than the same month in 2020 thanks to better than expected tax revenues.

Government borrowing last month at £24.3bn was £19.4bn lower than the same month in 2020 thanks to better than expected tax revenues.

Central government income increased by £7.5bn in May 2021 compared with May 2020, to £56.9bn, including £41.4bn in tax receipts as more businesses reopened after the lockdown.
