Government: Brum no longer requires children's commissioner

Birmingham City Council no longer requires a Government-appointed commissioner to run its children’s services, the Department for Education (DfE) had announced.

Birmingham City Council no longer requires a Government-appointed commissioner to run its children's services, the Department for Education (DfE) had announced.

The DfE issued a revised statutory direction to the crisis-hit council yesterday, confirming the secretary of state intended to withdraw the children's services commissioner.
