Government changes rules to spot slow planners

The speed with which councils decide planning applications will be assessed over a shorter time period by the Government.

The speed with which councils decide planning applications will be assessed over a shorter time period by the Government.

Under criteria introduced by the Government, the assessment period for speed of decision-making has been reduced from two years to 12 months to ‘allow earlier identification of poor performing authorities so that action can be taken sooner'.
