Government asks councils to confirm safety of privately owned high-rise buildings

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has repeated calls for all private owners of high-rise buildings to cooperate with local authorities and test the ACM cladding on their buildings for fire safety.

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has repeated calls for all private owners of high-rise buildings to cooperate with local authorities and test the ACM cladding on their buildings for fire safety.

In an oral statement to Parliament yesterday, Mr Javid said: ‘While 89 private buildings in England have tested their cladding, I continue to urge all private owners of similar blocks to submit samples for testing.'
