Government delays social care cap

Plans to introduce a cap on social care costs have been delayed until 2020, ministers have announced.

Plans to introduce a cap on social care costs have been delayed until 2020, ministers have announced.

In a letter to the chair of the Local Government Association's community wellbeing board, Cllr Izzi Seccombe, health minister Alistair Burt said the £72,000 cap on social care costs, which was due to be introduced in April next year, will now not take place until April 2020.
