The Government must enable councils to deliver on housing

More clarity is needed to reassure local councils that they will have the support and resources needed to kickstart housebuilding and deliver on Labour's ambitious targets, says John Gregory

Sir Keir Starmer has reiterated the Government's ambitious target for housing delivery and his promise to build 1.5 million homes in England by 2029. 

Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) will play a pivotal role in meeting these targets - and they have their work cut out.
