Government to extend Community Infrastructure Levy

Housing minister Brandon Lewis has announced plans to allow more charities and other organisations to claim relief from the Community Infrastructure Levy.

At present only housing associations and councils can qualify for housing relief under the levy, but the proposed changes – announced yesterday – mean that other groups will qualify for relief, but only if the new homes are let at no more than 80 per cent of market rent to anyone whose needs affordable housing.
