Campaigners have criticised reports that the Government plans to take the right to decide fracking applications away from local authorities as ‘another attack on democracy'.

The Friends of the Earth pressure group published a leaked letter from communities secretary Greg Clark, energy secretary Amber Rudd and environment secretary Liz Truss to chancellor George Osborne, which recommended speeding up the planning process for shale gas applications.
