The Government is ‘gerrymandering’ the boundaries of combined authorities in a bid to ensure the best chance of a Conservative mayor, a senior local government source has claimed.

The Government is ‘gerrymandering' the boundaries of combined authorities in a bid to ensure the best chance of a Conservative mayor, a senior local government source has claimed. 

In the run up to the Budget next week, several areas are working to seal a deal to be announced in the chancellor's speech.
