Government ignores advice on IER

The shift to Individual Electoral Registration (IER) has been brought forward to the end of 2015, the Government has announced, despite recommendations by the Electoral Commission.

The shift to Individual Electoral Registration (IER) has been brought forward to the end of 2015, the Government has announced, despite recommendations by the Electoral Commission. 

The statement from the minister for constitutional reform,  Mr Penrose, said: ‘The Government does not agree that we should be making a choice between completeness and accuracy, given the importance of both elements in delivering a fair democratic system which commands the confidence and respect of voters.
