Government policies will widen the regional divide

The regional divide is set to widen unless the government does more to rebalance the economy, according to a report by The Work Foundation.

According to the report, this is the first time in more than 40 years that the UK does not have any national programme aimed at boosting the most deprived areas. If the situation continues, the report's author's warn that the poorest communities could face further economic decline.
