The Government has continued to defend its policy to turn every school into an academy as it came under fresh fire.

A number of organisations, including the County Councils' Network (CCN) and the Local Government Association (LGA), have called on the Government to reconsider its plans, which will mean all schools taken out of local authority control by 2022.
