Town hall leaders have questioned whether a ‘few unelected civil servants' will be able to look after all the academies in England.

A new report by the Local Government Association (LGA) pointed out that the eight regional schools commissioners in England were currently working with, on average, nearly 100 academies that are rated less than good.
