The Government's flagship Green Deal policy was launched this week, amid criticism it was not a ‘cost-effective' method for many households to improve their energy efficiency.

The scheme offers residents loans for energy efficiency measures, such as insulation, that are repaid through their energy bills. The responsibility for the repayments is passed to any future owner of the property.
