Green investment deal

Southend-on-Sea BC has secured finance from the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) to replace its existing street- lights with lower energy alternatives.

Southend-on-Sea BC has secured finance from the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) to replace its existing streetlights with lower energy alternatives.

The deal will provide £8.2m funding, alongside a grant of £5.1m from the Department for Transport to refurbish 14,000 lanterns and around 4,000 other pieces of street furniture with LED alternatives.
