Local authority pension funds are beginning to show genuine interest in supporting local infrastructure projects as sound investment alternatives, new research has indicated.

According to a study published jointly by the Smith Institute, the Local Authority Pension Fund Forum and corporate governance consultant, Pirc, almost all council pension funds had reacted to turbulence on the financial markets by increasing their exposure to private equity and infrastructure schemes.
