Good Growth for Cities 2019: Shaping an inclusive new narrative for UK cities

One of the most interesting things about taking the public’s perspective to measure city success is that the results are not always what we’d expect, says Jonathan House.

What do you care about most when you think about the ‘work and money' side of your life? When we asked the public, unsurprisingly, they talked about things like jobs, income, skills and health, rather than GDP or GVA headlines.

The Demos-PwC Good Growth for Cities Index, launched this week, measures the performance of the UK's largest cities and regions against the 10 indicators that the public consider most important when it comes to economic wellbeing.
