Councils need more guidance to help them turn the tide of rising levels of rough-sleeping, mainly caused by a lack of affordable homes, MPs have said.

Councils need more guidance to help them turn the tide of rising levels of rough-sleeping, mainly caused by a lack of affordable homes, MPs have said.

Local authorities are struggling to house people because of homes lost to Right to Buy, spiralling rents and potentially misunderstanding statutory duties, according to the House of Commons' Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee.
