Hackney rejects radical plan to limit CTB claims

A leading London borough considered refusing council tax benefit (CTB) claims from people in high-valued homes, as it sought ways to manage the cost of the localised scheme from next year.

The MJ has discovered that Hackney LBC also looked into the idea of means-testing CTB claims, so that a person's capital wealth would have been taken into account before a benefit claim was approved.
