Hartlepool Council chief executive Paul Walker has announced his intention to step down in August when he reaches 60.

Hartlepool Council chief executive Paul Walker has announced his intention to step down in August when he reaches 60, after 40 years service in local government.

Elected mayor Stuart Drummond is reviewing a number of options for replacing Mr Walker which include sharing the top post with a neighbouring authority, making an internal appointment or merging the mayoral and chief executive role.
