Dr Ian Harrison, head of economy and enterprise at Devon CC, is to retire after 38 years experience in highways, transportation and spatial planning within local government.

Dr Harrison's career began as an engineer in the private sector, before he moved to Kent CC in the early 1970s. At that time, he was involved in transport planning and highway management.
