WORKFORCE

Head of Engineering and Street Services

Luton is a town with enormous potential, supporting a vibrant multicultural community, a diverse economy and acting as a national and international transport gateway.Within our boundaries we have the council owned international airport and a sub regional shopping centre that is holding its own in the current economic climate.

The services within the department, such as street cleansing, are high performing and offer good value for our residents. We have a £200m capital programme to deliver, including Luton Dunstable Busway, the largest of its type in the world, the grade separated junction at 10A on the M1 and the completion of our inner ring road.

We are a small authority that punches well above our weight, however we are not complacent and we know we cannot afford to stand still. We are seeking an energetic and ambitious individual who, as part of the management team, will bridge the gap between strategy and operation, drive change and keep residents and business at the heart of all that we do.You will need to have a demonstrable track record of delivering in partnership, have good interpersonal skills and be a visible leader.

Substantial experience in Street Services and/or Engineering would be an advantage as would be a knowledge of managing externalised services and project management.
