About the role
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference and effect a step change in the way IT supports our business, through the delivery and on-going development of our council-wide technology strategy. The IT division provides support and technology expertise to all our staff as well as 102 maintained schools in the area. You will lead the IT division ensuring your people have the right capability, capacity and approach to deliver high quality, integrated technology services, instilling in your team a culture of continuous improvement in everything they do.
As head of profession for the information management and technology functions you will provide specialist support to chief officers and councillors, ensuring decision making is underpinned by the best possible technology advice. You will lead and develop the council's approach to information security and ICT resilience ensuring both the protection of confidential and highly sensitive personal and financial data and the ongoing provision of key front line services.
Successful delivery of a range of critical projects and programmes will help ensure that the council and its staff provide the best possible services to residents and other service users
About you
To succeed, you will be an experienced ICT professional with outstanding leadership and stakeholder management credentials, able to demonstrate evidence of formulating and delivering strategies and managing complex projects to deliver innovative solutions. Your instinct for problem solving and passion for getting the job done will be complemented by your ability to work at the pace necessary to meet the exacting demands of your customers. Your experience of managing IT contracts and procurement will ensure that the council maximises value for money on its IT spend. We are looking for a candidate from either the private sector, or a high performing part of the public sector. Regardless of your background, you will need to bring excellent communication and influencing skills, appropriate to working in a large, complex multi-service organisation.
