WORKFORCE

Head of Safeguarding (Adult Social Care)

Safeguarding adults will always be a key priority for Leicester City Council, and we're proud of our strong reputation for rigour and consistently high performance.

The Adult Social Care Safeguarding Unit supports the local Safeguarding Board partnership, ensures the delivery of good social work practice across the care management function, and works extensively with local providers of care services. The forthcoming integration of social care and health services will see both Mental Health Act and Out of Hours Social Work functions relocated to the Unit, enhancing our ability to keep people safe and well.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop the unit within the context of a wider integration agenda, working at a strategic level on policy and partnership development, while retaining hands-on operational responsibility for safeguarding within adult social care. You'll also have a pivotal role in developing relationships with local partners, overseeing multi-agency safeguarding training, and supporting regional work including the research and development of cross-authority policy and procedures.

We're looking for a dynamic, experienced professional, with a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field (including mental health act work) and significant leadership potential. You'll bring a track record of developing effective partnerships, translating strategic objectives into high-quality service delivery within a rapidly changing economic environment, and evidence of ability to provide operational management cover in adult social work/care management across the city. In return, we'll give you a fantastic platform and all the support you need to achieve your career potential.
