Get your head around social investment

Commissioners face serious challenges ahead but social investment could offer a route to diversifying income streams and driving local outcomes, says Andrew Graham

I've had a unique opportunity to be part of a very different organisation. Over four months I've split my time between a commissioning and service reform role at Newcastle City Council and a role advising Big Society Capital on how it can work with councils to grow the social investment market.

In Newcastle we had a good understanding of social investment. We knew there was some interest from partners in the city and that while other councils were further ahead, there were new opportunities emerging.
