A health study has warned that a crackdown on immigrant labour will cause a catastrophic shortage of care workers in the care sector.

The study* from the International Longevity Centre UK and Independent Age says that of the 1.45m staff in the care sector 20%, or 266,000, were born outside the UK and, among them, 72% were born outside the EU. About 14% of the non-EU migrant workers and 40% of the EU workers arrived in the UK between 2011 and 2015.
