Council and health leaders have called on the Government to invest money to protect the ‘chronically under-funded' social care system.

A joint letter to a national newspaper signed by Local Government Association chair Cllr David Sparks, chair of the Care and Support Alliance Richard Hawkes and bosses of the Royal College of Nursing, NHS Confederation and British Medical Association, said the system was ‘in crisis now'.
