Health spending across Europe has fallen for the first time in decades, as cash-strapped governments implement austerity measures which have hit localities across the Continent.

The cuts, which prompted a day of strikes and riots across Spain, Portugal and Greece on 14 November, meant that health spending per capita fell by 0.6% across the Continent in 2010.
