The majority of councils are predicting a successful takeover of public health, research by the Local Government Association (LGA) reveals.

The vast majority (95%) of the 152 local authorities in England taking on the statutory duty to improve public health from April 2013 predicted there would be a ‘successful transition', according to a recent LGA self-assessment survey.
