School maintenance is a crucial issue but mounting demands in education mean the issue is being missed, says Neil Fergus

On the never-ending to-do list for principals and head teachers is the responsibility for maintaining school buildings so they are safe, warm and weather-proof Iin order to provide a suitable learning environment.

While this is a fundamental priority, it is no doubt a time-consuming distraction – one which teachers usually don't have the time for.
