Helping veterans find safe homes

Since March 2020 there has been a stark rise in veterans who are homeless. Local authorities are key to tackling this issue, says Richard Gammage.

Right now, hundreds of veterans across the UK are homeless; sofa-surfing, living in cramped hostels and B&Bs, or sleeping on the streets. Many others are facing the same fate.

While knowing these facts is part of my job, it never makes it easier to hear. In a country where we value the service of our Armed Forces members, one homeless veteran is simply one too many.
