henry's taking A RIGHT ROYAL scroll through somerset

A six-metre scroll is to be transported around the county of Somerset in a bid to get signatures backing the creation of a Museum of Somerset.

The scroll is Somerset CC's  main plank of its bid for a £4.75m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The four major sponsors of the campaign , Tom Mayberry  (head of heritage at the council), Pat Hill-Cottingham (from Somerset's archaeological society), news editor at Somerset County Gazette Phil Hill and Simon Clifford (from BBC Somerset) have all signed the scroll and are receiving royal support . Presiding over the proceedings was ‘ Henry VIII', whose father Henry VII came to Taunton Castle in 1497.
