Highways Agency changes may open way for road tolls

The Infrastructure Bill could pave the way to the wholescale privatisation of the Highways Agency, civil service trade union warns.

The Infrastructure Bill outlined in last week's Queen's Speech could pave the way to the wholescale privatisation of the Highways Agency, a civil service trade union has warned.

Parmijt Dhanda, Prospect's parliamentary officer said: ‘We are very concerned that the Highways Agency is being prepared for full-scale privatisation.'
