The Forum of Private Business lobby group issued its warning after several councils across the UK proposed hefty increases – of up to 150% –in the charges they impose on motorists for parking on streets and in council-owned car parks. Councils are seeking ways of filling the void created by savage cuts to Whitehall grants.
